Daily Crime Log

The Police Department at Eastern Illinois University is required to create, maintain, and make available an easily understood daily crime log. The daily crime log must include the nature, date, time, general location of each crime that occurs within the institution’s Clery Geography, and the disposition of the complaint, if known. The University Police Department must make the entries available within two business days of the report of the information, unless the disclosure is prohibited by law or would jeopardize the confidentiality of the victim. The University Police Department may withhold this information if there is clear and convincing evidence that releasing it would jeopardize an ongoing criminal investigation or safety of the individual, cause the suspect to flee or evade detection, or result in the destruction of evidence. However, UPD must disclose any withheld information once the adverse effect is no longer likely to occur. The University Police Department is required to make the crime log for the most recent 60-day period open to the public inspection during normal business hours and any portion of the log older than sixty days available within two business days of a request for public inspection.

2026-06-10	Theft from Vehicle	Campus	On June 10, 2026, at approximately 12:38 p.m., a complainant reported a burglary from a motor vehicle in a parking lot near the stadium (Stevenson Hall) on campus. A bag containing prescription medication was taken. This incident remains under investigation.
2026-06-12	Theft	Patrol Zone	On June 12th at approximately 10:00 p.m., UPD assisted the Charleston Police Department with a reported theft at Huck’s, located at 1001 Lincoln Avenue. The incident was referred to CPD for further investigation.
2026-06-12	Criminal Damage to State Supported Property	Campus	On June 12, 2026, at approximately 6:27 a.m., a complainant reported criminal damage at McAfee Gym on campus. Damage was observed in the north gym; the extent of the damage is unknown at this time. This incident remains under investigation.
2026-06-12	Theft from Vehicle	Campus	On June 13, 2026, at approximately 10:54 a.m., a complainant reported a burglary from a motor vehicle that occurred on June 12, 2026, at approximately 4:00 p.m., in the Stevenson Hall parking lot located at 320 Grant Avenue. A debit card was taken from the vehicle. There were no signs of forced entry; the vehicle was locked, but the windows were partially open. The debit card was canceled before any unauthorized transactions occurred. This incident remains under investigation.
