INTRODUCTION

I’ve always loved learning new things, having good conversations, and figuring out how education and technology can work together to make a real difference. To me, education is at its best when it’s open to everyone and gives people the tools they need to grow and succeed.

My career has been a great blend of both worlds. As an Instructional Support and Training Specialist—and now a Digital Accessibility Specialist—I help faculty and staff use technology effectively to improve their teaching and build engaging, accessible learning experiences for all students. I strongly believe that the right technology, when designed with accessibility in mind, opens up possibilities and helps students do their best work.

Alongside my support role, I teach as an Adjunct Instructor in the School of Technology, where I work directly with students who are building their own careers in tech. Sharing knowledge with future technologists and watching them grow academically and professionally is one of the most rewarding parts of my job. In my classes, I always try to create a fun, supportive, and hands-on environment where students feel comfortable exploring ideas, testing things out, and thinking critically.

Because I’m always looking to keep growing in my own field, I am also currently working on my Ph.D. in Instructional Technology at Northern Illinois University (NIU). Outside of work and school, you'll usually find me reading, writing, or working on creative projects. I’m always excited to learn about the latest updates in tech and new approaches to teaching and learning so I can assist the faculty, staff, and students I work with in any way I can. I'm really glad to be part of this community and look forward to getting to know everyone and learning from your perspectives!

Education & Training

I am a proud graduate of the School of Technology at Eastern Illinois University (EIU), where I earned my bachelor’s degree in Digital Media with a minor in Media Technology. My time at EIU gave me a strong foundation in the digital world and sparked my desire to keep learning. After graduating, I went on to Bellarmine University in Louisville, Kentucky, to complete my master’s degree in Digital Media, which really helped me build on my skills and look at the field from new angles.

After finishing my master's, I worked for two years as a UI/UX Designer at Idea Entity, a data solutions company. Stepping into the industry was a great experience—I got to collaborate with a talented team, work on real-world projects, and focus on designing intuitive, user-friendly experiences.

Even while working in the industry, my love for higher education and mentoring eventually brought me right back to EIU. I stepped into higher education as an Instructional Support and Training Specialist (ISTS), helping faculty use technology to enhance their courses, and have now transitioned into an ISTS role focused on digital accessibility—making sure our learning environments and materials work for every student. Alongside my full-time role, I also teach as an adjunct instructor in the School of Technology, where I’ve taught courses in photography, web development, and trends in digital media. Being back in the classroom to share what I’ve learned and help the next generation of tech students grow has been incredibly rewarding.

Because I’m always looking to keep learning myself, I am currently working toward my Ph.D. in Instructional Technology at Northern Illinois University (NIU), and I love attending and presenting at conferences whenever I get the chance. Every step of my path—as a student, a UI/UX designer, an accessibility specialist, and an instructor—has shaped how I approach technology and education. I’m really grateful for the path that brought me here and excited to keep growing in this field!

Community

Outside of work, my life is full of hobbies that bring me joy and keep me inspired. I love graphic design—combining art and technology to create visuals that share a clear message. To me, it feels like painting with a digital brush, and it gives me a great space to express myself creatively.

When I step away from the screen, I love being outdoors and going hiking. Exploring different trails—especially the ones around Lake Charleston—is peaceful, and the views are incredible. Getting out in nature always clears my head and gives me fresh inspiration for my creative work.
